• The complexities of grief

• How to create sacred space for transition before and after death

• How to consider family dynamics that occur as someone dies

• How to determine if a family is a good fit for a home funeral

• Eco-friendly options for body disposition

• Essential documents and legal paperwork required - how to research state laws and build bridges with others presently working in the funeral industry.

• How to identify, network, and partner with a variety of interdisciplinary professions.

• Home Funeral Workshop on the final Monday of the training.

Weekend 2 - Friday and Saturday May 12&13

Workshops in the Grief Space

Held at The Abode in Missoula, MT

We will spend time learning from and with local Missoula area experts including grief counselors, grief poetry workshop, a talk with a funeral director, hospice, yoga for caretakers, etc. This weekend will be focused on connecting the threads of the existing grief community in our midst, and helping the newly initiated find their place in how best to support what already exists as well as fill the gaps and weave a better cloth to wrap around and serve our dying and grieving.

This training is limited to 15 participants to ensure plenty of individual attention. All attendees will receive a certification in death midwifery.
